Repository: https://github.com/f-io/LIVI

Native CarPlay & Android Auto head unit for Linux (ARM/x64) & macOS (ARM/x64). Multi-session wired + wireless projection, zero-copy hardware video decoding, low-latency audio.

  • Stars: 804
  • Latest release: v8.3.0 (2026-08-21T13:40:43Z)
  • AppImage asset: LIVI-8.3.0-linux-x86_64.AppImage
  • License: GPL-3.0

Found by .github/workflows/discover-apps.yml, which looks for GitHub
repositories that publish AppImages but are not in the catalog yet. This
entry was not tested by a human; please review it before merging.

Possibly not from the application's authors: the README says "not affiliated" (label not-upstream). Please check whether the catalog should list this AppImage, or rather one from the application's own project.

Discovered on GitHub as publishing AppImages on its releases, by
discover-apps.yml. Needs a maintainer's review.

❌ Test failure

@f-io: this pull request adds the AppImage from your GitHub repository to the AppImage catalog; the test reports the following. Could you have a look?

Compatibility: not self-contained: uses the C library of the system; references glibc 2.39

Names:

WARNING: AppImage name 'LIVI-8.3.0-linux-x86_64.AppImage': should not contain 'Linux', since all AppImages are for Linux (e.g. 'App-1.0-x86_64.AppImage', not 'App-1.0-linux-x86_64.AppImage')
  • The AppImage was built on a system that is too new. Please build it on the oldest still-supported Ubuntu LTS release so that it runs on all supported systems.
  • The application quit or crashed right after starting. The error below usually shows why.
  • Please check the remarks about the names below.

First error in the log:

LIVI is a head unit rather than a desktop app: it runs its own compositor and relies on the system’s GPU drivers, PipeWire, BlueZ and hostapd, so it isn’t meant to be self-contained and won’t come up in the sandboxed test. It targets current Debian, Ubuntu and Raspberry Pi OS releases on purpose, so please close this PR.
