Repository: https://github.com/framefilter/keyroost

Vendor Neutral, Rust-Based Management UI and CLI for U2F/FIDO2 and other hardware security keys

  • Stars: 62
  • Release with the AppImage: v0.10.0 (2026-09-21T12:54:12Z)
  • AppImage asset: keyroost-x86_64.AppImage
  • License: Apache-2.0

Found by .github/workflows/discover-apps.yml, which looks for GitHub
repositories that publish AppImages but are not in the catalog yet. This
entry was not tested by a human; please review it before merging.

Possibly not from the application's authors: the README says "not affiliated" (label not-upstream). Please check whether the catalog should list this AppImage, or rather one from the application's own project.

Discovered on GitHub as publishing AppImages on its releases, by
discover-apps.yml. Needs a maintainer's review.

❌ Test failure

@framefilter: this pull request adds the AppImage from your GitHub repository to the AppImage catalog; the test reports the following. Could you have a look?

Compatibility: not self-contained: uses the C library of the system; references glibc 2.39

  • The application quit or crashed right after starting. The error below usually shows why.

First error in the log:

ERROR: The application exited within 11 seconds instead of showing a window

What next: once the AppImage is fixed (e.g. in a new release), comment /retest here to test it again. If it should not be in the catalog after all, close this pull request; an app that is already in the catalog can be removed by a maintainer with /remove.

Notes:

  • File name 'keyroost': all-lowercase names are typically used for command line tools, but the desktop file does not set Terminal=true. If this is a graphical application, please name the file after the application as it is spelled, with capitals where it has them (e.g. 'Krita'); if it is a command line tool, set Terminal=true in its desktop file.

  • The AppImage was built on a system that is too new. Please build it on the oldest still-supported Ubuntu LTS release so that it runs on all supported systems.

  • The application quit or crashed right after starting. The error below usually shows why.

First error in the log:

/run/firejail/appimage/AppRun.real: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: weak version `GLIBC_2.39' not found (required by /run/firejail/appimage/AppRun.real)

Thanks for considering keyroost in appimage's repository! The lowercase name is intentional: keyroost is styled in lowercase. It's a graphical application. I'm working through meeting your compliance requirements now.

* appimage: build on the oldest supported Ubuntu LTS and bundle libxkbcommon

AppImageHub's test (AppImage/appimage.github.io#9258) runs on an older
system than Ubuntu 24.04 and failed twice over: the AppImage required
glibc 2.39, and the GUI panicked because libxkbcommon-x11 was missing.
The windowing layer loads libxkbcommon and libxkbcommon-x11 by name at
runtime, so linuxdeploy never bundled them; bundle both explicitly.

Build the AppImage and the Linux release tarball on ubuntu-22.04, the
oldest still-supported LTS, instead of ubuntu-latest, which also moves to
a newer Ubuntu from 2026-10-19 (actions/runner-images#14748) and would
raise the glibc these downloads need.
