HyperTensor — Complete Reproduction Guide

Version 4.0 · May 2026 · Zenodo v1 release · DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.20077378

This is the canonical, end-to-end reproduction document for every result in every HyperTensor paper (I–XVIII) plus the geometric jury foundation. Each paper section is self-contained — you can run any single paper's verification without running anything else.

If you only have ten minutes, read §1 Quick Start and §14 Verification Suite Summary.

1. Quick Start (60-second smoke test)

This runs the four CPU-only Riemann verification suites — 27 tests, no GPU, no model download, ~15 seconds total. If these pass you have a working environment.

git clone https://github.com/NagusameCS/HyperTensor.git
cd HyperTensor
python -m venv .venv
# Windows:
.venv\Scripts\activate
# Linux/macOS:
source .venv/bin/activate

pip install numpy scipy mpmath sympy

python scripts/faithfulness_rigorous.py
python scripts/riemann_comprehensive_verify.py
python scripts/riemann_adversarial_tests.py
python scripts/riemann_mega_verify.py

Expected: every script prints a PASS block; the faithfulness_rigorous.py output ends with SV1=8.94, SV2..SV12=0.000000 (D(s) is rank-1). If you see this, your installation reproduces the core mathematical claim of papers XVI–XVIII.

2. Hardware Tiers

The reproduction surface spans three tiers. Most results sit in tier 1.

Tier Hardware Papers covered Wall-clock for full suite
T1 — CPU-only Any x86_64 with 16 GB RAM I (analysis), V, VI, VII, X (analysis), XIII, XIV, XV (TEH/COG analysis), XVI, XVII, XVIII, jury foundation ~30 minutes
T2 — Consumer GPU RTX 3070+ / 4070+ (8 GB VRAM) + CUDA 12.x I (throughput), II, III, IV (GTC), VIII, XI (1.5B bilateral), XII (1.5B native), XV (.MIKU runtime), ISAGI 7B (4-bit) ~90 minutes
T3 — Datacenter GPU EC2 g6e.xlarge (L40S, 48 GB VRAM) or H100 IX (cross-GPU), XI (7B bilateral), XII (7B native), XV (10K-interaction COG), XVI (50K primes AGT) ~6 hours

A reference T1+T2 host (Ryzen 9 7940HS / RTX 4070 Laptop / 32 GB / Win11) reproduces everything except T3 rows. T3 rows ship pre-computed results in benchmarks/ so you can verify the JSON without re-running.

GPU specifics

GPU L2 (MB) Optimal GRC k* (predicted) Status
RTX 4070 Laptop 32 1024 Primary reference
RTX 4090 / 5070 Ti 72 / 48 1536 / 1280 Validated
L40S 96 1536 EC2 reference
A100 80GB 40 1024 Validated
H100 80GB 50 1280 Predicted only

The cross-GPU formula k* = L2_MB × 42.7 (Paper IX) lets you predict the optimal rank for any GPU from its L2 cache size alone.

3. Software Setup

3.1 Operating system

  • Windows 11 (primary development host; PowerShell 7+ preferred).
  • Ubuntu 22.04 / 24.04 (EC2; bash).
  • macOS 13+ (Apple Silicon) — CPU-only paths verified, GPU paths not supported.

3.2 Python

Python 3.10, 3.11, or 3.12. Tested on 3.11.

python -m venv .venv
.venv\Scripts\activate # Windows
source .venv/bin/activate # Linux/macOS
python -m pip install --upgrade pip

3.3 Dependency tiers

Install only what you need.

Tier A — CPU verification (papers VI, X analysis, XIII, XIV analysis, XV analysis, XVI, XVII, XVIII, jury)

pip install numpy scipy mpmath sympy matplotlib

~50 MB. Sufficient for the 60-second smoke test plus all jury and Riemann scripts.

Tier B — Model analysis (papers I, II, III, IV, V, XI, XII)

pip install numpy scipy mpmath sympy matplotlib torch transformers safetensors

~3 GB (CUDA torch). Enables hypertensorize.py, real SVD spectra, bilateral UGT at 135M / 1.5B, native training at 1.5B.

Tier C — Full ISAGI runtime (paper XV end-to-end)

pip install -e .[full] # editable install with [full] extras
# OR explicitly:
pip install numpy scipy mpmath sympy matplotlib torch transformers safetensors bitsandbytes accelerate

~3.5 GB. Adds 4-bit quantisation (bitsandbytes) and accelerate for 7B inference on 8 GB VRAM.

Tier D — C runtime (whitepaper / GRC throughput on Llama 3.1 8B)

  • Zig CC (pinned by build_host.ps1)
  • CUDA toolkit 12.x
  • The GGUF model file Meta-Llama-3.1-8B-Instruct-Q4_K_M.gguf (~4.6 GB) from bartowski on HuggingFace
  • Optional: NVIDIA Nsight Compute 2026.1+ for L2 traces
  • ~6 GB disk total (model + W_proj cache)
.\build_host.ps1
# expect: build_host\geodessical.exe (~1.1 MB)

3.4 Verifying the install

python -c "import numpy, scipy, mpmath, sympy; print('Tier A OK')"
python -c "import torch; print('Tier B OK', 'CUDA:', torch.cuda.is_available())"
python -c "import bitsandbytes; print('Tier C OK')"

4. Determinism, Seeds, and Reproducibility Caveats

4.1 What is deterministic

  • All scripts in scripts/jury_*.py, scripts/riemann_*.py, scripts/agt_*.py, scripts/acm_*.py, scripts/faithfulness_*.py, scripts/jury_bridge.py — seeded with np.random.seed(0) or random.seed(42). Results are bit-exact across runs on the same Python/NumPy version.
  • Perplexity measurements via geodessical.exe --ppl-eval — fully deterministic across runs and GPUs (greedy decode, no sampling).
  • All mpmath-based zeta computations use mp.dps=400 and are bit-exact.

4.2 What varies across runs

  • Throughput (tok/s) — varies with GPU clock, thermal state, driver version. Cooldown protocol (30 s idle) mandatory; expect ±5% absolute variance.
  • Wall-clock timings — naturally noisy; use the CI pack (12 reps + lower-95 bound) instead of single runs.

4.3 What varies across hardware

  • L2-cache-fit effects (Paper I 106% result) only reproduce on GPUs with similar L2 size. Use the cross-GPU formula in §2 to predict where it applies.
  • Bilateral UGT subspace overlap (Paper XI) is model-pair specific; the canonical 0.968 figure uses two independently trained Qwen-2.5-1.5B-Instruct seeds.

4.4 Pinned versions for the Zenodo v1 release

Package Version
Python 3.11.9
numpy 1.26.4
scipy 1.13.0
torch 2.3.0+cu121
transformers 4.41.0
mpmath 1.3.0
sympy 1.12
bitsandbytes 0.43.1

Other versions usually work but only the above were used to produce the published numbers.

Papers I–XV (audit) 51 T1 90 s python scripts/bulletproof_audit.py
Papers I–XV (benchmarks) 7 T1 90 s python scripts/benchmarks_quick.py
Total 111 T1 ~5 min (run all the above)

All listed tests pass on the reference environment. Every result is reproducible from clean checkout in under 30 minutes on T1 hardware.

15. Troubleshooting

CUDA out of memory

Use --4bit flag, switch to a smaller model (1.5B → 0.5B or 135M), or run on T1 path (analysis only). Most verification scripts run CPU-only by design.

ModuleNotFoundError

Re-run the appropriate Tier install from §3.3. The most common omission is mpmath (needed by every Riemann script).

JSON serialization error: Object of type ndarray is not JSON serializable

Older bug, fixed in current scripts via NpEncoder. If you hit this, the script needs cls=NpEncoder added to its json.dump call — please open an issue.

Slow prime sieve

The sieve runs once per session and takes ~1 s for 100K primes, ~12 s for 1M. This is expected; results are cached in-memory for subsequent calls within the same Python process.

ssh: connect to host hypertensor failed

Check ~/.ssh/config has the entry from §12. Verify the EC2 instance is running in the AWS console and that the security group allows your current IP on port 22.

GRC throughput shows regression instead of speedup

You forgot the cooldown. Pass -CooldownSec 30 to every benchmark script. Without it, GPU thermal throttling drops sustained throughput to 50–60% of baseline.

Meta-Llama-3.1-8B-Instruct-Q4_K_M.gguf not found

Download from bartowski's HuggingFace. Place anywhere; pass full path via $MODEL (Windows) or --model flag.

PPL values differ from 6.7902 / 7.6936

Wrong model file. There are several Q4_K_M variants in circulation; only the bartowski build above produces these exact deterministic numbers.

bitsandbytes import fails on Windows

Install the Windows wheel: pip install bitsandbytes-windows (community fork) or use WSL2.

W_proj cache not regenerating

Delete ott_wproj_cache_*.bin next to the GGUF and re-run; the runtime auto-detects and rebuilds (~90 s on Ryzen 9 7940HS).

geodessical.exe: silently caps k=2048 to k=1536

Known constraint: AXEX_MANIFOLD_K_MAX = 1536. The k=2048 throughput row in the rank sweep shares the W_proj cache with k=1536 and reports the same numbers.

Test fails only on macOS

Apple Silicon does not have CUDA; T2/T3 paths are not supported. T1 paths should all pass; if a T1 path fails on macOS open an issue with the full traceback.
