User story

As a terminology curator, I want to map the remaining CIEL concepts to OMOP Standard Concepts so that future CIEL releases provide more complete interoperability with the OMOP Common Data Model.

Use case

After importing the historical mappings from Athena, there will still be concepts created or modified after the Athena snapshot, as well as concepts that were never mapped. These remaining concepts should be curated before the next CIEL release.

Requirements

• Identify all CIEL concepts without an OMOP Standard mapping after the Athena baseline import.
• Include concepts created or modified after the imported Athena snapshot.
• Prioritize mappings using existing CIEL Bridge resources whenever applicable.
• Support one-to-many mappings where clinically appropriate.
• Validate newly created mappings through the existing QA workflow.
• Produce a coverage report including:
  • Remaining unmapped concepts.
  • Newly mapped concepts.
  • Mapping coverage percentage before and after the curation effort.
• Include all validated mappings in the next CIEL release.

Acceptance criteria

• Given the Athena baseline has already been imported, when this curation effort is completed, then all reviewed concepts have OMOP Standard mappings where appropriate.
• Coverage metrics demonstrate the improvement achieved since the baseline import.
• The resulting mappings are included in the next official CIEL release.

• Concepts introduced after the Athena snapshot.

We have a process that was determined after the JSON export of CIEL to OMOP. This was created by the Thesaurus team. I would want to move the process upstream and perform the mapping and the incremental or changes to CIEL before export to OMOP. This might mean a future lab page workflow. For now, I am trying to figure out how to get Thesaurus more regularly involved in the OMOP release process and editorial.
