Will anything be ever done about the battery drain issue? #2271

Checklist

  • I am reporting an issue in existing functionality that does not work as intended
  • I've searched for existing GitHub issues

Description

Describe the issue that you are experiencing

No matter the Telegram version, no matter how many reinstalls, no matter how many iOS reboots. It always drains the battery so much my phone's battery is like I've been playing some AAA games everyday for the past 2 years or so. And all I'm really doing is Discord, FB Messenger, music and of course Telegram.

Issue DISAPPEARS if You disable Telegram's notifications or uninstall the app and instead use the web version in safari (pain to use + no notifications).

Expected Behavior

Tell us what should happen

My phone lasts (ffs) for almost 2 days with my use-case ; also an expected behavior would be someone knowledgeable actually looking at the issue and maybe fix it by using the iOS' notification system? iirc it's something different

Actual Behavior

Tell us what happens instead

Battery drains like CRAZY

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Use Telegram for iOS with enabled notifications
  2. Just spend some time even not using your phone
  3. Check battery stats in settings

In my case I of course use Telegram as a main app on my phone, but it should stop eating battery as soon as I force close the app. It does not.

Compare Capriccio (a perfect example of an app which "just works" in background in this case) to Telegram; however I don't think these stats truly represent how blatantly the issue is present.

Environment

Device: iPhone 13

iOS version: 17.2.1 but happened to many on other versions, including newer

App version: 11.11.2 but THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR YEARS, and I sometimes update the app just in hope of it working better
