Ive started working on a simple UI frontend for virtnbdbackup.

The Frontend is aimed to work as a central point to configure multiple remote KVM
hosts as backup sources and their respective backup targets. It is using the GNU
task-spooler to queue backup jobs. Scheduling is handled by standard CRON, the
cronjob files are however created automatically by the web frontend.

The monitoring and start of the backups is handled by an REST based API service.
It is still in very alpha state, the featureset is:

• configure multiple remote kvm hosts and select which vms you want to backup, with different options
• creates crontab files based on the users date/time/selection that trigger the backup operation via API endpoint
• monitors the results in an simple overview which lets investigate failures.
• the queue can be limited to an certain amount of jobs

Oh wow, I'd definitely want to test it. I started writing something in flask-appbuilder but never managed to get beyond scheduling a backup due to time constraints.

Hmmm, maybe I'm missing something, but it doesn't seem to discover the VMs running on the host. From what I've seen, this happens when:

• you use a non-default key without a passphrase (id_dev)
• you have a default key with a passphrase (id_prd)
• configure the host in the UI to use the non-default key

then when you connect to the host to retrieve the VMs it will use your default key to retrieve the VMs and that key has a password, so it never retrieves the VMs. I haven't tested, but it may also happen if your default key doesn't have access to the host. As you're using virsh to do this (I think), passing the keyfile in like this would probably fix it:

$ virsh -c qemu+ssh://root@testhv01/system?keyfile=/root/.ssh/id_ed25519_dev list --all

Everything else seems to work. There are some options that I'd like to use that are missing, but what it contains works flawlessly. Most issues I encountered were completely on me 😄

If you are taking feature requests, I'd like the following options for my usecase:

• nbd-ip
• nbd-port but as a range of ports

And even better would be if there could be a schedule/type per VM and the ability to set a retention for the backups.

its been a while since i messed with this code.. Attached version should hopefully fix this.

it seems like you're queueing against host with id 2 in the database, but the host with that ID doesn't exist anymore. Have you removed and re-added the host? Happened to me.

The host id is correct in the request
