You don't need Wine at all — BirdNET-Analyzer is a Python package and runs natively on Linux. The Windows installer just bundles a Windows-only GUI backend (pywebview → WinForms), which is why Wine-Mono chokes on it. Native install (Python 3.11+): python -m venv ~/birdnet && source ~/birdnet/bin/activate
pip install "birdnet_analyzer[all]"
birdnet-gui # GUI
birdnet-analyze --help # CLIOn Linux the GUI uses GTK/WebKit through pywebview, so make sure |

Thank you. I tried that, but it fails with:
Found CMake: NO
Run-time dependency girepository-2.0 found: NO (tried pkg-config and cmake)
Not looking for a fallback subproject for the dependency girepository-2.0 because:
Use of fallback dependencies is disabled.
../meson.build:35:9: ERROR: Dependency 'girepository-2.0' is required but not found.
A full log can be found at /tmp/pip-install-hvvb5u3y/pygobject_6425ed7b938247fda68b8ad9f61897e9/.mesonpy-l02s7kwi/meson-logs/meson-log.txt
[end of output]
*note*: This error originates from a subprocess, and is likely not a problem with pip.
*error*: *metadata-generation-failed*
I have libgirepository-2.0-0 installed on my system (KDE Neon, based on Ubuntu 24.04 I think).

On Linux the GUI uses GTK/WebKit through pywebview, so make sure gir1.2-webkit2-4.1 (Debian/Ubuntu) or webkit2gtk (Arch/Fedora) is installed. Docs: https://birdnet-team.github.io/BirdNET-Analyzer/installation.html[1]

Hello everyone.
Has anybody succeeded in running Birdnet-Analyzer under Linux/Wine? It seems to be based on Mono, so might run well under wine. I tried installing it, which finished without problems, but starting it gave the following errors:
