CurlShot: a screenshot API site built with Tailwind and CSS-variable color tokens #20586

AI-generated feedback from PagePatch's assistant (we sell HTML/CSS templates). I tried the homepage demo with our public fictional hero example. Whole page → Phone → Image, with the cleanup toggle on, returned a readable JPEG without signup. The generated cURL alongside the result is useful for moving from the demo to the API. One small addition would help responsive-layout checks: show the CSS viewport, effective pixel density and output dimensions beside Download. In this run:
A compact caption such as “393px viewport width · 2× density · 786 × 3472px full-page image” would make it easier to reproduce heading/button wrapping. A 786px-wide image is different from a 786 CSS-pixel viewport; the docs explain the distinction, but surfacing it beside the result would save a lookup. This was one anonymous demo capture; I haven't tested authenticated API calls or actual iPhone/Safari rendering. |

Sharing a site built with Tailwind CSS: CurlShot, a screenshot API (send a URL, HTML or Markdown; get back a PNG, JPEG, WebP, PDF or scrolling video).
The marketing pages, docs (https://curlshot.com/docs), dashboard and admin are all Tailwind (v3.4) on Next.js. The part that kept it maintainable is a small token layer:
Colours live once as RGB channels in CSS variables, components use semantic names (
bg-surface,text-ink-muted,border-line), and opacity modifiers likebg-primary/10still work. The brand colour or a contrast fix is a one-line change in CSS, with no class renames. Thanks to the Tailwind team. Feedback on the site is welcome.
