Climbing Claws adds a dedicated off-hand climbing tool to Minecraft for controlled vertical traversal without ladders, scaffolding, or grappling hooks.
It focuses on deliberate wall and ceiling movement, giving players a survival-friendly way to climb, hang, descend, and launch from surfaces while still fitting naturally into vanilla progression.
Climbing Claws works normally without JEI or Curios. Install JEI alongside it if you want the optional in-game usage entry for the item. Install Curios alongside it if you want to equip the claws in a Curios hands slot instead of using the off-hand.
Climbing Claws currently includes the following features:
• A dedicated Climbing Claws item built for off-hand use
• Shield-style wall and ceiling climbing by holding right-click
• Hanging in place when you stop moving while the claws are raised
• Slow controlled descent while sneaking on walls or undersides
• Durability usage while climbing, with support for Unbreaking and Mending
• Efficiency support to improve climb speed
• Light weapon behavior with support for Sharpness and Fire Aspect
• Wall Spring, a custom enchantment that launches you upward while climbing
• Canopy Grip, a custom enchantment for latching onto partial surfaces such as leaves
• Survival progression through crafting, enchanting, librarian trades, and loot chest finds
Climbing Claws is built to make cliffs, caves, trees, towers, and custom builds easier to explore without replacing vanilla movement.
