I'm a technologist and engineering executive based in Southern California. I've been programming since 1982 — my first machine was a Sinclair ZX Spectrum — and I've shipped software on just about everything since: FORTRAN IV and COBOL on punch cards for an IBM System/360 mainframe, high-concurrency distributed platforms, and modern systems in Java, Python, Go, and Rust.
For the past three decades I've led engineering, product, and program teams — at Sun Microsystems, as VP of Engineering at Playtika, and as CTO of Crowdbotics, where we built an AI-native legacy-modernization platform (you can watch me demo it on Microsoft's Sip and Sync with Azure). Today I'm co-founder and CTO of CoreStory, an AI code-intelligence platform that turns complex legacy codebases into clear, actionable specifications — and I'm building Pragmatik.tech into the home for my writing, teaching, and consulting.
The through-line in all of it is translation: helping business leaders see what technology can do for them, and helping engineers see why it matters to the business. I write about CodeOps and AI-assisted development for DevOps.com and Built In, and I teach constantly — my TinyGo on the Raspberry Pi Pico series on the Pragmatik.tech YouTube channel is featured on tinygo.org, and as an FAA-certificated flight instructor (CFII) with the Caltech/JPL Flying Club I created PFactor.io, a free resource for student pilots.
