Too slow and I am surprise nobody has complained it yet. #269
Hi! I really love this project, but I feel like Python becomes a performance bottleneck in some cases.
I've been working on a Rust rewrite here: https://github.com/XiaTian-AC/faster-dooit
It's still not finished, and there are definitely bugs. But I was wondering: if I finish it and open a PR here, would you consider merging it into this project instead of keeping it as a separate one?
One thing I should mention is that it's not 100% compatible with the current version. I use a different database format, Lua for configuration, and some internal functions are named and designed differently.
So it may need some changes to fit the project better, and I'm happy to discuss how to make it work.
Thanks for creating such a great tool! I'd love to contribute.
Also, just a small note: I used AI tools quite a bit while developing faster-dooit. Of course, I'll take responsibility for the code and fix any issues that come up.
I'm also a middle school student, so there might be some things I haven't done perfectly yet. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Hey man, Yea I realised when I was testing with a lot of data that it becomes painfully slow lol
I didn't dig into the issue much because as you said "nobody complained"
I don't think specifically "python" is at fault but more the underlying "tui" framework. Or it might just be me with not-so-efficient algorithms
I did work on it a bit more but i kinda dropped midway (had a lot of stuff going on in my life and didn't pick it up again)
I'll allocate some freetime to do some testing this weekend maybe

I think better to keep separate if things break honestly and just for the sake of an tui example with textual
What I could do for you is that mention your project in the readme so people can try it out

Thank you! But yea if you're creating your own separate thing - good to focus on that. Could also check out https://github.com/kraanzu/smassh

I see, yea could be a little big project so makes sense. An LLM makes a lot of sense to make the transition
But again, good to keep it as a separate project

Damn dude, good stuff. I remember writing "remove zeros from a number and print it" in middle school lol
That aside, do keep your brain healthy and don't let the LLM take over :D
I'll also check out your project
Oh my god. This is actually my first GitHub issue (although I've been using GitHub for a long time), and you actually replied to me! That's a little surprising, but I'm really happy that you noticed it. REALLY REALLY thanks!

I've starred it! I love it.
Hmm... I'm not really sure about that. Actually, I only know the basics of Python syntax, so I don't have enough experience to judge.
Anyway, I'd be happy to see any improvements you make, and I'll keep learning more about this too!
And don't worry, I won't let AI replace my own thinking. I see it more as a tool to help me learn and build things faster. :)
