What

/kit:wrap now has two halves and a switch. A plain /kit:wrap runs the landing half only: board rows, commit, merge own PRs, deploy check, tidy, pull, activity line, retro, report. The distill half (the pre-step-0 candidate scan, the before/after seams, all of step 7 with its drain) runs when [wrap] distill = true in the operator or kit-root kit.toml, or when the invocation carries distill (/kit:wrap distill [repo...]), or when the ask says to distill.

Why

The distill half is the expensive half (precedent pass, lane classifier, builds in home repos, a note-store grep) and "wrap up" means land the session. The operator who wants the rest says so. The knob resolves root-only like the other [wrap] autonomy knobs because the distill half writes to home repos.

Report shape with the switch off

**Built:** SKIPPED: distill off
**Seam:** SKIPPED: distill off

lib/wrap/report-lint.sh already accepts both as a real skip (the reject list is nothing, no candidate, none).

Surfaces

  • kit.toml: the key and its comment.
  • commands/wrap.md: the switch paragraph, the argument, per-step gates on the scan, step -1, step 7, the report template.
  • lib/config/module-registry.md: the row plus the index list, and which five knobs idle while the half is off.
  • tests/test-wrap.sh: root-only fence (default false, operator wins, project ignored), presence checks, the lint shape.
  • docs/CHANGELOG.md: COMPAT entry naming the behavior change at the default.
  • docs/verification/wrap-distill-knob.md: proof of done.

Proof

  • bash tests/test-wrap.sh: all 515 passed (7 new).
  • Negative control via lib/gate/negctl.sh: default flipped to true, suite RED (wrap.distill ships as false), restored GREEN.
  • tests/run-all.sh: 150 of 152 ok; test-orchestrate-wavefront and test-pane-viewer hit the runner's 300s ceiling, untouched by this branch.
  • Consistency review lens on the diff: lint acceptance clean, changelog/registry/toml/command agree; two prose nits and one registry gap folded into the third commit.

Not proven

A live wrap with the switch off, and a live /kit:wrap distill. The first real wrap after merge is that run.

A plain /kit:wrap now runs the landing half only: board rows, commit,
merge own PRs, deploy check, tidy, pull, activity line, retro, report.
The distill half (the pre-step-0 candidate scan, the before/after seams,
all of step 7 with its drain) runs when wrap.distill is true in the
operator or kit-root kit.toml, or when the invocation carries the word
distill (/kit:wrap distill [repo...]), or when the ask says to distill.

With the switch off the report carries Built: SKIPPED: distill off and
Seam: SKIPPED: distill off, which the report lint already accepts as a
real skip. The knob resolves root-only like the other [wrap] autonomy
knobs because the distill half writes to home repos.

Surfaces: kit.toml key, commands/wrap.md switch paragraph and per-step
gates, module-registry row, test-wrap fence and lint cases, changelog
COMPAT entry naming the behavior change at the default.
