Getting Started
- Download the signed, notarized universal DMG from GitHub Releases.
- Open the DMG and drag Pasted into Applications.
- Launch Pasted from Applications.
- Grant Accessibility only if you want system-wide hotkeys or automatic Queue/HUD paste.
Pasted begins listening while it is running. Copy text, an image, a screenshot, a PDF, or files and they appear in History.
The first-run setup explains local storage, offers to merge supported Alfred, Pastebot, Pasta, Paste, CopyClip 2, Maccy, or Flycut text history, and checks hotkey access. Every step can be skipped, and the setup can be reopened from Settings → General.
Scripted and managed installations can persistently mark the current setup walkthrough complete:
open -a Pasted --args --skip-welcome- Left: collections, Bins, Tools, and Search.
- Middle: clips in the current collection.
- Right: the selected clip, its content, actions, metadata, notes, and revisions.
Drag the column dividers to resize them. Pasted remembers the window position and layout.
- Click a clip to inspect it.
- Right-click for Copy, Bin, Transform, Note, Queue, Pin, Protect, and Trash actions.
- Drag a clip onto a manual Bin, Queue, Pinned, Protected, or Trash.
- Open the focused Search modal from the lower-left control or
Command/Ctrl+F, then search across active and trashed history. - Open Settings → Functionality for a simpler or more capable Pasted.
The Simple Functionality preset keeps the core clipboard experience visible. Full enables every feature, and changing individual features creates a Custom setup. Hiding a feature normally preserves its existing data. Review Settings and Features before disabling Trash or Revision History, because those choices affect whether future actions are reversible.

Smart Paste can select one confidently matched value from a larger copied text block. Enable Smart Paste under Settings → Functionality and configure its shortcut in Settings → Hotkeys, copy text containing a recognized value such as an email address, phone number, or link, focus a field whose label or placeholder describes that value, and press the shortcut. Pasted briefly writes the matched value, pastes it, and restores the original clipboard without capturing the internal write into History or Queue.
The focused application must expose useful field metadata through its accessibility interface. Pasted leaves the clipboard unchanged when the field is ambiguous, and Smart Paste is unavailable for passcode and verification-code fields. Registered Content Classifiers detect values when text is copied, even when Content Classification is disabled. No Inspector or Extractor is required. Detected values appear under Detected Content in the clip details while Smart Paste is enabled. On supported Macs, an enabled Apple Intelligence connection can enrich those detected values locally; deterministic detection remains available without it.
The CLI uses the same matching contract without controlling another application:
pasted smart-paste --context "Email" --text "Name: Ada Lovelace, Email: ada@example.com" --json
pasted smart-paste parts --clip 42 --jsonGet Pasted · Source · Releases · Issues
