Add an optional centered address/search field for Command-L and Command-T on macOS.
The problem
I prefer a centered search field because it is easier to use as a keyboard-first command palette. Helium currently focuses the address bar at the top of the window.
Possible solution
A working prototype is available in my fork:
The centered search prototype provides:
Command-L: open the centered address/search fieldCommand-T: create a tab and open the centered field- Up/Down: cycle through Chromium history/search matches
- Return: open exactly the text displayed in the centered field
It has been built and tested on Apple Silicon. Please feel free to incorporate the relevant patch code, adapt it, or implement the behavior from scratch in the style that best fits Helium.
