Major Migration & Modernization Plan for HelpOps-Hub #1521

Closed

Description

@mdazfar2

Description

We are planning a complete modernization of the current HelpOps-Hub architecture and codebase.

Currently, the frontend is built using Next.js with plain JavaScript (.js).
The goal of this migration is to transform the entire frontend into a fully TypeScript-based architecture using .tsx and .ts while keeping the exact same UI/UX, animations, responsiveness, layouts, and overall design consistency.

📌 Objective

Frontend Migration

  • Convert the complete frontend from .js to .tsx
  • Use .ts for:
    • utility functions
    • API handlers
    • configuration files
    • type definitions
    • constants
    • reusable data structures
  • Maintain:
    • exact same UI design
    • exact same animations
    • exact same responsiveness
    • exact same user experience
  • Improve:
    • code quality
    • maintainability
    • performance
    • scalability
    • type safety

🐍 Backend Migration

The backend architecture will also be modernized.

Current backend:

  • Node.js

Planned backend:

  • Python Flask

Contributors working on APIs and backend-related features should now follow the Flask backend architecture.

📂 Contribution Workflow

To make contribution management easier and more organized:

Rules

  • Every page migration must have a separate issue
  • Every feature implementation must have a separate issue
  • Every UI improvement must have a separate issue
  • Every backend API migration must have a separate issue

Examples:

  • Home Page Migration
  • Login Page Migration
  • Dashboard Migration
  • Authentication API Migration
  • Blog Feature Migration
  • Notification System
  • User Profile Page
  • Dark Mode Improvements
  • Search Optimization
  • API Refactoring

⚠️ Important Guidelines

DO NOT:

  • change the design
  • redesign components
  • modify animations unnecessarily
  • change responsiveness behavior
  • break existing functionality

DO:

  • keep code clean and modular
  • use reusable components
  • follow TypeScript best practices
  • maintain proper folder structure
  • write scalable code
  • use meaningful typings/interfaces

📁 Expected Stack

Frontend

  • Next.js
  • TypeScript (.tsx / .ts)
  • Tailwind CSS

Backend

  • Python Flask

🛠️ Recommended Contribution Structure

Each contributor should:

  1. Pick a dedicated issue
  2. Work only on assigned scope
  3. Create clean commits
  4. Open proper pull requests
  5. Mention issue number in PR

Example:

feat: migrate home page to tsx
fix: convert auth utilities to typescript
refactor: migrate dashboard api integration

📌 Note

This migration is a large-scale modernization effort.
Please ensure:

  • high-quality code
  • proper testing
  • no unnecessary dependency additions
  • scalable architecture decisions

We appreciate every contributor helping us improve HelpOps-Hub 🚀

NOTE

And yes, create a new folder in root folder named website4.0; all the new website migration code and related work should be written inside it.
