chore: stage upstream #2711 into stability wave 1

[sakitam-fdd]

Temporary staging PR used to apply Tencent#2711 with GitHub's three-way merge engine onto upstream-stability-wave1-20260821.

The upstream branch diverged from current main, so this PR is intentionally targeted at the wave branch to preserve intervening main changes. It will be merged only after verifying the effective diff is limited to the intended rerank source and tests.
