Refactored the Universal Chat Importer plugin to support multiple file uploads and improved trigger reliability.

Changes:

  1. Removed Direct Path Support: Deleted import_chatgpt_from_path and ALLOWED_IMPORT_DIRECTORIES Valve for improved security and simplified workflow.
  2. Support for Multiple Files: import_chatgpt_export now accepts a list of file IDs, allowing users to import multiple exports in a single tool call.
  3. Trigger Optimization: Updated the tool docstring with aggressive and explicit instructions to ensure the LLM calls the tool immediately upon file detection.
  4. Enhanced Logging: Added detailed logger.info statements for ZIP/JSON identification and progress tracking, visible in docker compose logs.
  5. Non-blocking Execution: Ensured all heavy operations remain offloaded to background threads.
  6. Documentation: Updated README and CHANGELOG to reflect these changes.

Verification:

  • Unit tests updated and passed.
  • Built and verified plugin.py compilation.
  • Verified docstring format and Pydantic Valve conventions.

How to Prompt:

The user should now be able to say:

"I've uploaded two ChatGPT exports. Please import my history from these files now."
The AI should immediately detect the file IDs and call import_chatgpt_export without further explanation.
